The waterfall of Perithori
Hardly anything is better on a hot day than a trip to a mountain lake, river or waterfall! A friend has recently mentioned this one and I saw on the map that it was close enough to allow a short escape from my hotel work. So instead of a classic siesta, off we went to discover it!
Indeed the drive was short. Part of it I was familiar with (the coastal road to Aigira, the Ancient Theatre of Aigira, Seliana with its eco-community Re-Green). But the second part, past Seliana, was new to me and I was so happy to be driving through it, untouched mountains full of trees all around, streams and small parcels of land heavy with fruit trees.
We reached our destination easily on a normal road + a small stretch of very acceptable dirt road. We parked our car here and walked the remaining distance of 5 minutes by foot to the entrance of the forest trail leading down towards the fresh water stream and the waterfall. Signage was good and we did not fear losing our way!

From here on was beauty and disconnection from real life. Paradise is a natural setting of course, but we often forget it and strive for the unfulfilling things, the luxury accommodation, the designer decoration, the elaborate and sophisticated life style. Then one enters a forest and realises that there is no beauty, peace or contentment outside of our natural habitat, the forest.

The walk to the waterfall from this point was another 5 minutes. There is a signposted path downhill, which I presume leads to the village of Perithori. We did not have time to check that out, but if you are here on a holiday you might want to try it out! I for one dream of returning here with a hammock and spending a few hours in the coolness of the forest, with my book of course!

I’m adding a couple of videos below for more inspiration. Contact us for more information!
Tip: My original plan was to go for lunch to the village of Solos and specifically to the taverna “Niriides“. We ran out of time, but still, I leave it here as an idea!
