free audio driving tour of Corinthia

Created by the Corinthia Hotel Association, this free audio driving guide is unique in the sense that it is a self-funded bottom-up project by the local hoteliers themselves!

The idea behind the project was for hotel owners to share their favorite destinations in the region with travelers and to do so on an platform that is easy to use, intuitive and useful. Instead of telling them “drive there”, this application allows guests to visualize the suggested itinerary and most importantly to listen a description of the visited places, complete with interesting tips!

The first version of the tour, named “Corinthia Special” and available for download here, contains 8 Places to visit:

  1. Ancient Heraion & Lake Vouliagmeni: One of the most picturesque and photogenic places to visit in Corinthia, Heraion should not be missed if you are traveling in this area.
  2. The thermal resort town of Loutraki & the Canal of Corinth: Located at the gates of the Peloponnese, Loutraki is your entry point to an area rich with historical landmarks and natural beauties, the region of Corinthia.
  3. The fortress of Acrocorinth & Ancient Corinth: Most visitors to the area will have the archaeological site and the museum of Ancient Corinth on their bucket list, but not all will go as far as the ancient city’s acropolis further up the hill.
  4. The Castle of AgionoriA surprise castle, beautifully restored by the Greek Ministry of Culture in 2014, perched on a hill on the way from Corinth to Argos!
  5. The monastery of the Virgin of the Rock in NemeaNemea is known as the ultimate wine area of Southern Greece, so you will be drawn here mainly to visit its famous wineries and to try its ancient wine. But do take some time to visit this historic monastery, carved in the rock face opposite the ancient city.
  6. The village of Drosopigi & visit a real shepherdThe village of Drossopigi is nestled on the Eastern slope of the mythical Mount Ziria. Here you will find a small community of people living off the land and its produce, farmers and shepherds.
  7. The plateau of Mount Ziria & Baby WaterfallsBest known as Mount Ziria, technically speaking “Ziria Minor” and “Ziria Major” are the two peaks of the mythical Mount Kyllene. It is here that the mischievous Greek god Hermes hid the sacred cows of his brother god Apollo, after stealing them.
  8. Sykia, the “poets’ haven”: Sykia is a small and pretty village on the northern coast of the Peloponnese, on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth, situated between Corinth to the East and Patras to the West. Endowed with a long pebble beach and a unique seaside pine forest, it has provided a haven of peace and tranquility for generations seeking quiet inspiration.
