1st Trikala Food Trails

19 August 2017

On Saturday 19th of August something special happened in the mountain village of Trikala Korinthias. A new network of hoteliers (Trikala Corinthians Network) teamed up with our region’s alternative tourism network “Experience Corinthia” to create a new annual event. The Trikala Food Trails combined 3 things: an outdoor activity (hiking along a newly opened ancient path linking the lower to the upper neighbourhood of Trikala); the demonstration of a traditional agricultural activity (the drying of grapes to make the famous raisins of Corinth); and a dinner consisting of recipes created using local products, some of them PDOs, such as Feneos “vanilla” beans.

It was a nice opportunity to take to the mountains, as I like to do in the summer, so we invited our Italian friends Enzo & Gioia to join us and off we went. The temperature was refreshingly cooler than on the coast, the company large and jovial, the path more interesting (and demanding!) that what we had expected; baby Orfeas enjoyed the grape activity enormously; and we all appreciated the food and local wine (offered by the Gioulis and Mantas wine houses).

Here are some pictures of the event:

CU there next year!
