The hoteliers of Corinthia Daphne & Iliana welcome you to the Baby Waterfalls of Corinthia!<\/p><\/div>\n

The summer of 2023 has been a pretty hot one, leaving me with an irresistible urge to flee to the coolness of mountain forests and the freshness of mountain rivers. To my great luck, friends and colleagues living and working at the foothill of Mount Kyllene had spent the spring foraging for unknown waterfalls and had discovered quite a few!<\/p>\n

Let me add a first<\/em> disclaimer<\/em> straight away: this post is not about waterfalls in the league of the Niagara or Victoria Falls! World-class waterfalls they might not be, but this collection of Baby Waterfalls<\/strong> is accessible, pretty and family-friendly! You can visit them and still have time to enjoy your morning and afternoon swim in the sea; and you can also combine them with other sights in the area, as well as with food and wine \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A second<\/em> disclaimer has to do with the names: they have no official names, so these names are rather toponymes.<\/p>\n

A third disclaimer<\/em> has to do with their safety. All are easily accessible, but not all have been signposted. Visiting them should be considered an exploration entailing personal care for safety, within the limits of one’s knowledge and capabilities. Alternatively, you can take a guide with you and organise a guided excursion, either with Explore Ziria<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(4X4 or with mountain buggies) or with Greekly<\/strong><\/a> (hiking excursion).<\/p>\n

Waterfall of Agios Vlasis, Trikala Corinthias<\/h3>\n

Distance from Daphne’s Club<\/strong>: 30km<\/p>\n

Exact location<\/strong>: Park you car here<\/a>\u00a0and follow the signs. The path to this waterfall was signposted in Spring 2023 and will hopefully remain so. The walking distance from the car park to the waterfall itself is roughly 30 minutes. Update 9\/8\/23<\/em><\/span>: the signposts have been vandalised. Please get precise instructions from Daphne or hire a local guide before going here.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

You can also visit<\/strong>: The three «neighbourhoods» of the villages of Trikala Corinthias <\/i>and the Ski center of Ziria<\/i><\/p>\n

Waterfall of Aghia Varvara, Trikala Corinthias<\/h3>\n

Distance from Daphne’s Club<\/strong>: 30km<\/p>\n

Exact location<\/strong>: Park your car next to the church (pin<\/a>) and follow the dirt road downhill. When you reach the end of the dirt road, continue downhill along the short footpath. You will reach the river. Follow the river upstream until you reach the waterfall. There was an initial effort to signpost this path in spring 2023, which has resulted in red dots showing the way, but not real signposts. The walking distance from the car park to the waterfall is roughly 45 minutes.\u00a0Please get precise instructions from Daphne or hire a local guide before going here.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Exact location<\/strong>: Park your car here (pin)<\/a>\u00a0and follow the path through the forest. It is signposted, but even without the signposts it is straightforward to find. Walking distance from the parking is roughly 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

You can also visit<\/strong>: The Mycenaean<\/em>\u00a0cemetery<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0Aidonia, the archeological site of Nemea and the wineries of Nemea<\/em><\/p>\n

Eating out<\/strong>: Tavernaki Bozikas<\/strong><\/a> in Bozikas<\/p>\n

Waterfall of Tarsos, Feneos Corinthias<\/h3>\n

Distance from Daphne’s Club<\/strong>: 52km<\/p>\n

Exact location<\/strong>: Park the car here (pin<\/a>)<\/a>\u00a0and follow the dirt road downhill. At its end follow the path towards the sound of the waterfall. Walking distance from the car park is roughly 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
