After 20 years of actions to become an eco-friendly hotel, here is an inventory of where we stand today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>General<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We <\/span><b>recycle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the hotel\u2019s rubbish and encourage our guests to recycle too, by providing recycling in bins on each floor and relevant documentation in our hotel information booklet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the detergents we use are <\/span><b>Eco-labeled detergents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We also use traditional cleaning ingredients, such as vinegar and soda.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide our guests with <\/span><b>free bicycles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so that they can avoid the use of their car while staying in our hotel. We also have a <\/span><b>financial incentive for visiting us without a car<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in the form of a discount if guests use public transport to come to us.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>We do not print guest invoices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, sending them instead by email.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide guests with <\/span><b>reusable cotton shopping bags<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in order for them to avoid using plastic bags.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We monitor our practices by regularly sending out to our guests an <\/span><b>environmental questionnaire<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which allows them to rate them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We <\/span><b>calculate our CO2 footprint <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">using our hotel industry system <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sustainablehospitalityalliance.org\/resource\/hotel-carbon-measurement-initiative\/\"><b>HCMI<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"longdesc-return-12794\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12794\" tabindex=\"-1\" src=\"https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"free bicycles\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" longdesc=\"https:\/\/daphnesclub.com?longdesc=12794&amp;referrer=12790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles-800x600.jpg 800w, https:\/\/daphnesclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/bicycles-700x525.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Dining<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our breakfast, lunch and cafeteria menu includes no meat or fish. Instead we offer a tasty <\/span><b>vegetarian and vegan cuisine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide <\/span><b>no disposable food containers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, using instead the ceramic bowls from the traditional yogurt that we buy from a local producer.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We provide <\/span><b>no individually packaged food <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in disposable containers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately tap water is not suitable for drinking in our village during the summer. Instead of buying innumerable 10lt water bottles for our water fountain, we strive to <strong>refill them our bottles at free water springs<\/strong> in nearby mountain villages.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have eliminated plastic bottles of water in all our hotel\u2019s departments and instead provide only <strong>returnable<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><b>glass water bottles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including our complimentary bottle water in each apartment at check-in.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We participate in Greenpeace\u2019s project <\/span><b>StoPotitiMou<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, offering a discount to anyone using his\/her takeaway cup when buying coffee from us.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have eliminated the use of plastic straws and instead provide <\/span><b>metal straws <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to our guests enjoying their drinks in our garden or in their apartment, and <\/span><b>wheat straws<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for takeaway drinks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of providing plastic or paper glasses for takeaway drinks, we offer our guests <\/span><b>real recycled jars <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for their drinks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We strive to use only excellent quality <\/span><b>local products from trusted producers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, organic where possible, for all the meals that we serve.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are currently experimenting with <\/span><b>reusable metal coffee pods <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for our Nespresso machine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our <\/span><b>homemade lemonade and jams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are made with local organic fruits and organic sugar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our <\/span><b>homemade bread <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is made from organic flour, using our own sourdough.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are experimenting with the production of <\/span><b>our own bee wraps,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to use instead of plastic wraps wherever and whenever possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>paper napkins<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we use are Eco-labeled.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have our own <\/span><b>handmade composting bin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which we urge guests to use also.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>We upcycle our <strong>paper placemats<\/strong> into drawing paper for children.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">Fruits &amp; vegetables are delivered to us in <strong>carton boxes<\/strong> and <strong>paper bags.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/proudodo.gr\/en\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"longdesc-return-12791\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12791 size-large\" apartments, with the exception of our homemade olive oil-soap, which is sustainably packaged in recycled paper. <\/span><b>Left-over soap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is collected and either grated and reused as washing machine detergent or gifted to charities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of single use amenities we provide our guests with superior quality <\/span><b>olive-oil based shampoo &amp; body wash in a handmade refillable dispenser<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, created by a local Greek producer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We offer all our guests a<\/span><b> complimentary returnable glass bottle of water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>toilet paper <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in our apartments is Eco-labeled.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hot water for showering is heated primarily by <\/span><b>solar panels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>All our apartments have <strong>low-energy ceiling fans<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All our apartments have their own<\/span><b> air-conditioning units, which shut off automatically <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when a window or a door is opened, in order to avoid unnecessary use.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is an automatic system to<\/span><b> shut off the electricity <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when guests leave their apartment.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harismasoap.gr\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"longdesc-return-12797\" class=\"aligncenter
