Aromatherapy workshops

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. As a form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function. The inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils is believed to stimulate brain function, while essential oils absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream, can promote whole-body healing.

Aromatherapy workshops

There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties. rosemary, thyme, mint, fennel, rose, cinnamon, clove, anise, frankincense, myrrh, coriander, garlic, opium, belladonna, mandrake.

In Greece the land is rich with these medicinal herbs and there has recently been a revival in the study and use of these plants, by the local natural cosmetics industry (most notably Korres and Apivita), but also by the producers of quality foodstuffs, such as organic honey with saffron .

At Daphne’s Club we propose individual aromatherapy workshops and we also occasionally organise longer retreats.

Individual aromatherapy workshops are organised according to your special needs and interests and can include:

– Theoretical lessons, whereby you are taught the basic principles of aromatherapy, general descriptions, groups, collection, properties, indications, counterindications and storing; and the specific properties of between 5 and 10 specific essential oils: lavender, chamomille, tea tree, geranium, rosemary, eucalyptus, rose, basil, cypress, lemon.

– Practical lessons, whereby you are taught the ways of applying aromatherapy: how to mix the essential oils, recipes and how to apply them; and aromatherapy massage.

– Herb picking expeditions, which combine hiking with the discovery and collection of local herbs.

We can also organise and host longer Aromatherapy Retreats, which combine all of the above, aa well as aromatherapy massages and visits to local producers of natural cosmetics using local herbs.
